Northcenter Beautification Begins on Irving Park
Alderman Schulter joined business leaders from the Northcenter neighborhood and representatives from the Department of Transportation at the intersection of Lincoln, Damen, and Irving Park to celebrate the groundbreaking of the new Irving Park streetscape.
Phase one of this project is a $6 million beautification of Irving Park between Western and Damen and consists of numerous aesthetic and architectural elements, including decorative lighting, planters, and community identifiers highlighting the Northcenter neighborhood.
"I believe that this investment will lead to more businesses coming to the Northcenter neighborhood and more jobs being created for Chicago residents," stated Alderman Schulter.
Northcenter Chamber of Commerce President Rob Engel joined Alderman Schulter in highlighting the huge economic development impact that this project will have on the neighborhood. "I want to thank Alderman Schulter," commented Rob Engel. "I know that without his dedication this project wouldn't be happening right now."
Warren Silver, Chair of the local Special Service Area commission, and Chris Shickles, President of the Ravenswood Community Council, were also on hand to celebrate the beautification project.
